The New Touch Screen System for Snow Plows Will Provide Cost Savings and Improve Safety
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(2008 Business Wire)--
Adtech announced that they have provided over 100 touch screen units
for Mobile Data Collection System (MDC) snow plow
pilot project. The MDC interface will provide the snow plow driver
with current road condition information and the best
salt/sand/chemical mixture given the current road conditions. Each
snow plow equipped with the MDC will be able to transmit road
conditions, mixture information, truck location through GPS, lane
selection, and plow blade positioning information back to the home
office of the department of transportation.
The MDC integrates proprietary software, GPS technology, and LED technology. Scott Romuld, President of Adtech commented, "The fanless panel PC with LED technology provides a brighter user interface, consumes less power, emits less heat, and last 30% longer than traditional systems. More important than the inner workings of the technology is the fact that the system will optimize road treatment mixtures based on specific conditions, resulting in an expense reduction by reducing mixture component waste. Most importantly, the proper mixture helps to ensure the roadways in many US states during the winter season are as safe as possible."
